Hi all I am a PTTLS tutor and would like to know what exam, course awarding bodies recognise my managing IOSH certificate to allow me to tutor Iosh and other H&S courses, Highfield does not,

The IOSH Managing Safely qualification is not (as far as I can see) designed to impart a high enough level of H&S expertise to allow you to teach the subject to others on any formal accredited course. Certainly you could not teach on an IOSH Managing Safely course for example as the minimum qualification required seems to be at lvl 3 (e.g. NEBOSH NGC) So I think the answer is likely to be none.....

Hi Thank you for your speedy reply, and I agree, and it would appear that a Nebosh is the starting point, and is unfortunate that the qualification would not merit, allow tutoring a Level 2 H&S course with the proper experience. Have a great night

dss While I sympathise, I can also see good reasons for setting a minimum standard. When giving training it is always good to be able to explain something in depth. Also your students/delegates are likely to ask questions. To be able to do justice to these two aspects you need an in-depth knowledge of the subject you are teaching.

Hi Jane & Lynda thank you for replying As level 2 courses and course work is not or should not be too in-depth and I would be instructing from awarding body coursework and class/course time constraints, I always refer students to the course book or Google strangely for a quick discussion. As I actually paid for all my courses and am currently studying Nebosh International, and at the time the managing IOSH was not cheap, Level 4 is within my capability but the cost of, and locating providers who deliver such courses on a regular basis is difficult, H&S is not my main focus at L3 or L4 and the cost of the L4 could not be justified for someone like myself who has not held a managerial level who's focus was H&SE, I suppose and realise after replying to this HSE is such a specialized area and is ever evolving it may be seen as the awarding body has high standards. And is encouraging to see so many and such quick responses from this forum to a Newbie.
