Can anyone shed any light on to the above subjects please?

I understand that there is to be a proposed standard competency for FRA's which the government are looking to bring in, as well as an update to fire safety law?

Any information would be greatly received.

Many thanks :-)

Not sure if the following is what you are after, however in terms of competencies you may be interested in The Fire Safety (Employees’ Capabilities) (England) Regulations 2010 which came into force in April 2010.

These Regs say; "Every employer must, in entrusting tasks to employees, take into account their capabilities as regards health and safety, so far as those capabilities relate to fire".

In other words you need to ensure you are satisfied with the competency of your fire risk assessors. This may be a significant issue for those that ask general staff to do FRA's 'in house'. Hope this helps.
