Is it worth doing another NEBOSH Certificate?

Hello
I have held NEBOSH Construction Certificate for 8 months and NEBOSH Fire Safety and Risk Management Certificate for 6 months and i am also TECHIosh. I have been applying for HSE roles during this time with no luck.
I have worked in construction as a pipe-fitter and qc inspector since 1993 and i have no regrets deciding to start a career in H&S. I have nuclear experience from working at Sellafield and BAE Systems plus other industries.
While searching for jobs, i notice a lot of vacancies ask for NVQ4 or Diploma, even though they are H&S Advisor roles, not H&S Manager etc. Because of this, is it worth doing another NEBOSH Certificate (i fancy the Environmental one), or should i look at NVQ 4 or Diploma, or are both a waste of time as i still have no H&S job so no so called hands on experience!
Any advise would be appreciated. I am starting to lose heart.
Kind Regards
Dave.

Experience is always going to be a stumbling block, personally I would look at the NEBOSH Diploma, rather than another certificate level qualification. NVQ is a possibility but you might struggle to build your portfolio if your not working in Health and Safety.
Keep going, the hardest part is getting your first position, especially in the current climate.

Please do not discount your trade experience/competence as it is string to your bow which those leaving Uni etc do not have so keep trying and aim your CV at pipe fiting & similar companies as well as others
Additionally the word 'manager' has a different meaning than U may think as most/many Chartered members, I would argue, are not managers
Keep on trying

Hello Bob
Thanks for the advice
I have tailored my CV to include any H&S experience however minor it may be. Apart from genuine job applications, i am also sending my CV out and volunteering to work for free at local consultancies to gain experience.
Like you say, "keep trying"
Cheers
Dave

Hello Dave I also have the nebosh construction cert and am also tech iosh I have 30yrs in construction as a time served bricklayer and every post that I've applied for I get the same response sorry not enough experience although I have a wealth of experience of working on sites since before hard hats and safety boots were the norm . And given the chance I would like to put what I have studied for into practice .I have done work experience with skanska which was good and I could see first hand what I had been taught that was thanks to Martin Coyed of skanska what I will say is don't lose heart something will come along that's what we have to believe as for taking the diploma all though it cost alot in the long run it can only do good I wish I could afford it ! I wish you luck and keep your chin up
regards

The diploma is the door opener. Certificate is a good foundation to get you on the Dip. Go for the Dip, youll wish that you spent the cash on the diploma which supercedes the cert. the cert is about 2k as well which is about 33% the cost of the diploma, maybe thinking of it like that helps??
