I am helping a contractor prepare some method statements and have quickly found I have some gaps in my knowledge.

Has anyone done this sort of work and can offer me some guidance.

I've looked through manufacturers guidance etc but the risks associated with gassing up and evacuation don't seem as detailed as I'd expect.

Whenever I help with method statements I provide the skeleton and let those involved with the work fill in the essentials like how the work will be carried out.

It works for me and gets the workers involved, after all it is they who are doing the job.

Just bear in mind it should be the management that completes the method statement.

I'm just going through a similar exerise at the moment. However, I do have ond further question.

We have approximately 50 retail type premises throughout the south east. Most have air conditioning. Once the method statement from the contractor has been recieved/ approved, in th eopinion of th eforum, what would be the best way of implementing the PTW system?

Bear in mind that the furthest branch is around 3 1/2 hours away, a site visit to issue a PTW is not really feasible centrally. Currently, out PTW policy states that all PTW certs will be issued by me. However, therein lies the problem. How to get the contractor/ engineer to sign/ return the PTW cert. I can email a copy to the branch in question and have the branch manager get the engineer to complete/ sign the cert and sign on my behalf. However, I'm not sure how we'd stand legally were something to go wrong and I'd followed this route.

Any advice greatfully received.

Did you have any luck with these ? If so is there any chance you could share them with me ?

Simple really,

Who is authorising the work on behalf of the 'retail' client?

Who is the senior engineer who can sign the PTW as confirmation they will undertake SSoW as detailed in the MS, RA and PTW?

If this is over a wide and repetitive area then random audits to ensure they are doing as the paperwork suggests?
