Yes I would say your next step would be NEBOSH g c .If you are in construction go for that .My advice would be ,not too concern yourself about pass marks and study hard and you will pass as for cost check with different providers as cost do differ

Costs would depend on what method you want to study.
I studied in a local college for mine, however, providers such as SHEilds are always offering good deals.

Good luck, and keep the momentum going.

Then the NEBOSH general cert is the best way to go ,when you are in a position at work you can then go down the NVQ route shows work based training .

If you are looking at being a safety rep then perhaps your union would contribute to the cost?

Take Care

I've completed my NEBOSH NGC, and am working on my City and Guilds Level 4 now instead of my NEBOSH Diploma.

It's a personal choice on NGC/Dip or C&G, I personally prefer C&G as I found NEBOSH quite anal whereas C&G you carry out and learn during your working day, there's also NEBOSH Construction Cert, as well as many others, and also many course in C&G Level 3/4/5.

Have a look at both and decide what best suits your career path, as I said personally I'm doing C&G looking to progress to CMIOSH.

Both paths are good, just depends on what you feel suits your needs best.

Having just sat last exam in diploma in hindsight I wish I had taken VQ level 4 route. I am employed in H&S and have been for some time to work based would have worked. My employer at the time founf the Diploma cheaper so thats what I was offered. The mode of study was not the best either as it was supported distance learning athlough I found it lacking in 'support'.

Like other posters suggest I would consider each path as they both lead to CMIOSH, and see what suits your needs the best and hopefuly unlike me you make the correct decision.

Good luck whatever way you decide and for me I wait with baited bresth for results in Arpril

Hi

If you are going to work in construction take the NEBOSH construction cert rather than the general

I agree with above comments I am 90% through the NVQ L4 route to get me to GradIOSH status but I am working in H&S will helps

If I was not working in H&S and need to get to GradIOSH status I would suggest Diploma

Don't always take the cheaper option as this can be very difficult when doing distance learning but then again the choice is yours

If you need some past exam papers from NEBOSH to help you decide I have got some PM me and I will send

Cheers

Alan

Hi Graham,

I agree if you are in construction the way to go is the NEBOSH Construction Certificate this involves a different further exam but certainly covers the hazards and risk that are within in this sector, as the General Certificate is more generic suitable for various workplaces.
The level of activity you would find on large construction project is covered in the Construction Certificate for example excavations, plant, tower & mobile cranes, relevant permits to work, competencies ect ect.
