Hi everyone - I passed the NEBOSH Diploma last September and am now a GradIOSH. Whilst I hold a H & S adviser role within a Government Dept, I wanted to offer my 'skills' (ahem) to other organisations (e.g. charities) to broaden my horizons and ultimately help me move towards Chartered Membership status.
I did email a few charities, and asked my local non-league football club if they needed any assistance, but have drawn a blank.
I wondered if anyone had any good ideas as to the best route to take to approach a body (is it simply a case of googling addresses and hitting loads of inboxes? or does anyone have a tried and tested method that works?)

The best way is to use any contacts you may have into these organisations. Show you are a real person!
Emails to the wrong person can easily be ignored, emails to the right person can be forgotten about.
So pop along and introduce yourself in person.

How about local groups: scouts, guides, playgroups or independent shops. Try not to put your paid colleagues out of business though!

Thanks for these comments everyone.
BJC - I wasn't aware of the hsejobs site - I've already registered and posted a message, so thanks for that.

Try your local IOSH group as someone there maybe asked a lot by such organisations and more than willing to pass on. After that word usually gets round pretty quickly and you might end of with loads of folk asking! Lilian
