Rank: Forum user		Has any one on this forum any experiene with working with the Easidec system which provides working platforms? Opinions and experiences would be much appreciated.

Rank: Super forum user		When i get back this afternoon, i'll access the e-mails i received from the HSE regarding this type of equipment. A company i know were using them for changing guttering and soffit boards and i highlighted the fact the type they use meant they had to assemble the guardrails at height and it didn't comply with the work at height regs. Check if they are able to assemble the type they use on the ground and raise it up.

Rank: Super forum user		Sharks. Saw one of these platforms for the first time yesterday at my local Health and Safety Forum event. I must say they look fantastic once in place and Easi-dec did a good sales pitch, but unfortunately I did not see the unit being assembled or taken down so I think frankc has raised a very good point. Rank: Super forum user		Check this out, Sharks. http://www.easi-dec.co.uk/products/platform.php On their site, they say it's 'Designed to comply with the 'New' Working at Height Regulations' There's a video available to watch the assembley method but it doesn't give you any details on the weights and for anyone around the Bedfordshire area, they have free demonstrations at their depot in Sandy.

Rank: Forum user		Hi Sharks Its a great system if installed correctly and use for its intended purpose, I have seen a recent PN by the HSE for its misuse, contractors are using this system for solar panel installation and as such have no edge protection when on the roof so in essence the platform is being used for a fancy "Hop up"

Rank: Super forum user		I've recommended Easi-Dec on posts previously and can only add that they are very accomodating and have developed solutions to the situations we were having problems with - the walk through stairwell platform for example. As with all WAH equipment, it's down to the selection of the right piece for the task.

Rank: Super forum user		It seems a very innovative idea and I suppose as time goes on we'll see new innovations tackling the age old issue of working at height. I will admit to seeing one of these systems first hand in my housing estate and having doubts whether it was safe, but hey ho move with the times I suppose!

If you are confident using a tower scaffold, you'll love the easi-dec platform as the thing is solid when in position...no wobble etc. Very reassuring when demonstrated here, even to the most sceptical TU safety rep.

Rank: New forum user		They are a great peice of equipment, we have used these from time to time, but they are only good if erected correctly and used properly, weve used these for Window replacement and for gutter replacement schemes and found them easy to use. But there is a similar system out there (from the states) that attaches to standard ladders and all id say is dont touch with a barge pole as its an accident and prosecution waiting to happen.

Rank: Forum user		I am aware and worried by the lack of proper edge protection, they do provide a barrier but it does not meet the WAH regs edge protection requirements. Easidec informed us that solar panel installers were using man anchors or fattaching ixed wires into beams in the centre of the roof with harnesses with fixed lanyards. I am also worried by the need to tie the easidec into the building and who is responsible for testing the ties and how.

Rank: New forum user		Guru, very similar but without a high level edge protection, the one i've seen only had one "handrail" and that was at knee height. If you ever want to cringe they are used alot on Extreme make over HE.
