Hi all,

I am looking to develop a business continuity plan for the company that I work for. I understand that all businesses are different and that no 2 business continuity plans will be the same. However, I am hoping that somebody would be prepared to share a sample with me so I know the structure to follow.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks

Paul

Our company has an extensive BCP - which was invoked during a major fire last year, and again during severe weather over winter.

There are several points to consider.

Who should be in the BCP team. Each department should be represented so a comprehensive plan can be developed.

- What are the key business activities. ie without what activities would the company quickly cease trading and start losing it's customers, even temporarily.

- What events could cause the activities to cease, ie fire, flood, traffic chaos, and what timescales would they start causing major problems

- How best to respond to these scenarios.

- Where to keep hard copies of the plan so they can be accessed at all times under all circumstances (short of nuclear war).

- Create a key contact list including BCP members, specialists such as PR companies, technical advisors. Emergency services etc.

This is just a starter to give you something to think about what's involved. Prior to our ever needing to invoke the map, we ran BCP scenarios where an imaginary event was unrolled in stages and responses from team members given at each stage. This can help to trigger improvements etc from the existing BCP plan.

Our insurance company also responded favourably to having a businees continuity plan and running scenario sessions.

You could try the following https://www.riscauthorit...D=778&ListGroupID=78

Should also point out that this is not something I have used or have any commercial interest in.

Thanks for the information all and the links.

We have businesses in Cairo and Alexandria that have been impacted by the recent unrest there, this has identified the need to have a more structured procedure in place.

Thanks again

Paul
