Has any one come across this situation
Carbon Monoxide detector fitted in property with solid fuel heating (no gas in property)
Alarm goes off - out of hours maintenance contractor called - not a gas engineer
Engineer puts fire out and vents building, resets alarm.
incident past on to day crew for further investigation and any repairs or replacement to solid fuel boiler and chimney.
Does anyone have a procedure for dealing with situation?

Are you thinking that Carbon Monoxide is only emmitted from gas fuel?
If so read this to help http://www.hse.gov.uk/gas/domestic/co.htm
You may find that your fuel source may be emitting some kind of concentration also you have no mention of checking the monitor too?

MB1 the question was not about detectors. The question was does anyone have a procedure for dealing with the incident described. MEden I suggest your engineer acted quite correctly. He ensured the fire was extinguished and vented the premises. He then reset the alarm in case the problem arose again before the day team carried out a fuller investigation and put repairs in hand. What else do you expect to be done? The fault was managed and passed on to those who could deal with it. The situation was controlled and the risk averted, what more do you think is necessary?
