Blue badge - disabled parking - enforceable?

Just wonder what anyone thinks about abuse of disabled car parking bays.
More often than not when I arrive at a hotel for an overnight stay on business there are works vans parked in the blue badge bays.
I do have a look to see if a badge is displayed and usually there is not.
Not wishing to be confrontational I say nothing but if I need a blue badge bay and they are all used up, some by vans with no badge what is my recommended course of action?

Hi Chris,
I have just been reliably informed by one of my officers that misuse of disabled parking bays in private car parks are not enforceable by police, local council parking officers etc. However they can be policed by the owners of the car park, such as train operating companies, NCP etc.
Police and other enforcement agencies will have powers in city centres and municipal parking facilities.
Hope this helps

A photo of the offending van (if it has the company's name on it) and a phonecall to their company number.
Explain you are a member of IOSH and you are going to recommend none of your associates have anything to do with a company that would make the disabled walk further than necessary....and a pic to the local paper in their town. One of my pet hates but then again, i have 82 year old father with walking difficulties and a 60 year old ma in law who can only get out in a wheelchair due to having a stroke 3 years ago.

Name, shame a ostracise is a good answer.
Also,....
I have intentionally removed some of the above before sending, as no doubt the mods would not have been impressed with it. I would assume that you can get the drift.
Blue badge areas are there for a damn good reason and should not be abused.

Good to see you all agree.
Ken I thought as much.
Frank - along the sames lines I was thinking, I have a blue badge and so does my wheelchair user daughter.
Motorhead - I do get the drift.
I was thinking about a text message to the offender - if his/her mobile number is on the van, then if that fails follow Franks recommended action.

As we are struggling to see the link to workplace H & S, this topic is now locked.
