Surely you are the best (and cheapest) writer of your CV? There have been many posts of this nature and the advices is usually that you do it yourself. There have been many offers from other members to have a look at your cv and critique it free of charge (of which I have been lucky enough to recieve); maybe a search of the forums would show this up; I obviously cannot answer on their behalf but I feel sure someone would be willing to do this for you?

I agree with Stuie Cv writers are money down the drain In the past people have asked here for others to look over their CVs & I've responded, I know I'm not the only one.

Was this post possibly a "round-about" way of asking for example CV's?? :)

When I was job hunting I sent my CV to contacts and friends in IOSH asking them to review my CV and to give me any guidance on improving it, I also spoke to a few HR contacts. The support and advice was very useful I ended up changing a lot of my CV, but it worked I soon got a few interviews and then secured my new position. Far better doing that than asking someone else to write my CV.

A good employer would soon sniff out a professionally written CV and when I look at CVs I expect the candidate to have crafted these themselves. Writing a CV is not difficult as all I am simply looking for is Professional qualifications, career history and experience (on two pages) and how well the candidate is simply communicating this information. The best test of a professional CV is the ‘so what’ principle when you read it back again later. Anything which says ‘so what’ must be removed. I also find that overwritten profiles in CVs a real turn off and hobbies as far as I am concerned are not relevant as these draw the attention away form the professional message which ought to be conveyed.

I have written an article for the May 2011 SHP magazine loaded with tips and ideas, not only for CVs, but for employment applications generally. There will be a further article in the August edition on interview technique. Regards Stephen Asbury CFIOSH Managing Director Corporate Risk Systems Limited Swa@crsrisk.com www.crsrisk.com
