I want to provide a guide to hazard spotting to our H&S Committee who will be undertaking 'safety walks' of our manufacturing facility.

Our committee has members from manufacturing as well as the administration and goods in so there awareness of hazards will need some work.

Does anyone have any slides/videos/training material that they would be willing to share?

Eventually I am hoping to send them each on IOSH Supervising Safely courses' but the budget has not been approved for this yet, and I want to improve there skills and awareness as soon as possible.

Thanks

Richard

Give them on the job training, take them round the factory site when you are doing your monthly workplace inspections, explain the hazards and the corrective actions, and then the follow up, assess the Ra's job done

I have this video on youtube that I'm happy for anyone to download and use for training (only)

Also visit safetyphotos where you can download some typical H&S issues and pu together some training. i aslo do a exercise where i split trainees into samll groups and get them to draw a list up around

people
equipment
building
weather

then get them to enter a list under each of these headings and how H&S is involved in these groups so for example

people

vistors, members of the public, contractors, training, qualifications, supervision etc etc

Building

fire alarms, extinguishers, emergency lighting, doors, stairways, final exits, lighting, etc etc

then take them out on a safety tour and get them to look at some of those items in the list are fire doors openable, extinguishers services, person authorised to operate that piece of equipment, who's responsible for supervision in warehouse etc etc.
