Hi All,

We have strong magnet on site and as a result of that we have to install signage informing that it could cause malfunction of artificial hearts in the vicinity.

I have to find safe distance from magnetic source so signs could be installed at appropriate distance.

Does anybody have any experience/idea etc. how to calculate it or where I might find any advice/info?

FYI this is not in the UK.

Regards,

Jane Blunt

This website might help:

We routinely mark out a 5 Gauss line (5 mT) on the floor.

Sorry to be a clever so and so but do you mean an artificial pacemaker. The artificial heart has not been developed yet to any practical degree and you are unlikely to meet anybody outside a cardiac research unit with one.

Jane,

Thanks for information it provided me some reference point.

Bob,

This is one of the control measures which will be implemented.

A,

Yes, I meant artificial pacemaker

In the meantime I have received manufacturer instruction which gave me exact distance (before I only had magnet specifications and I thought I could calculate it myself... somehow... maybe...)

Thanks for responses
