Deal all
I'm sure this topic has been raised before
My question is... If we are arranging a cricket match for clients ( we are big city law firm) in the center of London, would it be sufficient for the RA to state that the first aid arrangements are getting the casualty to the closest A&E? Hopefully we will have one of our first aiders there but not confirmed yet
we have used a private paramedic service in the past but they are expensive and only really attend to the odd grazed knee.

You could try your local St John Ambulance or similar.
I think if you have no external cover you should ensure your own first aider is present! I agree most sports events I cover result in little more than a grazed knee (I cover lots of local rugby as a first aider). However when it all goes wrong and someone gets hit on the head or has a heart attack etc, minutes can count!

Yes heart attacks etc were my main concern considering the physical condition of some of them!. I've made my recomnedations to the orginisers so it's the ball's in their court (exuse the pun)

I wouldn't consider cricket as a particularly high risk sport when compared to rugby etc. i think first aid cover should be ample. if you worked on the theory someone could have a heart attack then we would never leave home without having a first aider or paramedic following us. just make sure someone knows the address of the grounds in case you do need the emergency services, you would be amazed how many don't know the address of where an incident occurs and this often includes place they visit regularly.

Feet on the ground, keep a sense of perspective and note Phil's post at #6 and enjoy the cricket rather than worry about it!

[Phil I disagree after being hit by a ball struck by an England cricketer at Somerset CCC :) I re-read my post, I was meaning to imply their own first aider would be adequate and if more was required it might be worth looking to a charitable organisation. (At the very least someone should be apointed as being responsible) I also had my local cricket club in mind, the local hospital is a nice 8 mile drive, 1 mile of it down a dirt track, and when you get there they are shut on Sundays :) A call to 999 to try and explain where you are is also fun.... "No past the barn then turn right up the muddy track... as I said just now, there is no named road :) ) I don't suppose you have those problems in London. Ah it's Friday, enjoy.

I am not in any way being funny but as a business in that area you must be able to afford proper cover - I bet the refreshments are not being skimped on; so come on and treat H&S areas better!
I would engarge professionals re F-Aid as you are doing in every other area
