Has anyone carried out a specific risk assessment for someone with visual impairment. I have read the information on the HSE web site and was looking for an example to make sure I am going down the right route and making the necessary adjustments where needed and where available. Thanks to all in advance for any help.

Yes I've done one with and for my work mate who is blind and has a guide doggie. We looked at: moving around office e.g. to go to toilet etc, using office equipment its location, having the system set up to read and also emergencey evacuation (which there's a PEEP for), getting to and from, at training courses having a pre-meet and sending the powerpoint slides beforehand (pc can read docs and plays to her), ensuring on courses that info is accessible and any acitvitites are accessible e.g. can read or get read to etc. We call it our Personal risk assessment - extra duty of care and use it for other things as well e.g. pregnancy risk assessmetns etc. Done this with the perosn and their line manager, they then said ok to let team know whole risk assessmetn and not just their duties if alarm goes (doggie get shown emergencey way out and new doggie got familiarised with alarm sound and way out as well. Lilian we also looked at having the guide dog in work and thankfully no-one was allergic to the dog or had a great fear of them
