Hi
Can anyone tell me the average salary for a QSE Manager in North West region please? Main duties include internal QSE auditing, providing internal training and presentations, collating accident statistics, writing policies and procedures, undertaking fire risk assessments and H&S risk assessments and liasing with clients and senior management etc. Qualifications held are CMIOSH, AIEMA and hold Nebosh Fire Risk Management (Distinction), Nebosh Diploma in H&S Management, BSC Diploma in Environmental Management, Nebosh General Certificate (Distinction). 8 Years experience in QSE.
Would £32,000 salary be classed as low for the NW area and level of experience?

Depends!

The Hays salary guide would suggest the following salary scales in the NW of England:

H&S Director £45K - £60K, typically £55K
Senior H&S Manager £35K - £50K, typically £45K
H&S Manager £30K - £40K typically £37K
H&S Advisor £20K - £30K, typically £29K

Now, these are based on the roles that Hays has been involved with in 2010 so there is a private sector bias.

I find this kind of question amusing, as when I was first made redundant I dug in as to what salary I would work for. As the time dragged by and the coffers got less it got to the stage of accepting any work at any rate to pay the bills.
So either your hungary and want the job or you dont, regardless of whether the salary is low for the NW and level of experience.
Hope this advice and experience assist you.

When I started out 5 years ago and qualified to diploma standard in H & S and business management, I was on £17, 000. I am now the H & S manager on less than £26,000. It all depends on the area you live in and the company you work for. I enjoy my job so its my choice to stay,

The economic climate as a big input too - I have seen the same jobs advertised for less than a few years ago - sometimes with added responcibilities such as security. Its an employers market I'm afraid.
