Hi all, I am currently preparing for a possible job opportunity within the health and safety department of a brewery. The position would include responsibility for the portfolio of public houses and hotels it has within the country. That said, I was hoping for some welcome feedback specific to health and safety relating to pubs, hotels etc, which may increase my preparation for any possible application. I am currently working as a safety rep within the transport industry so any feedback is gratefully welcomed. Many thanks all!

There have been some fairly recent tragedies and prosecutions relating to failure to maintain gas appliances in the brewery chain business. Web search will no doubt find these for you. Similarly, legionella is a real issue in hotels and leisure spas etc. e.g. Recent prosecution following death a couple of years ago in Angus Scotland and recent high count in Hotel in Dundee. Just a couple of areas where you'll need to extend your competency and CPD. Some good IOSH Courses available for these and other topics - see main page index.
