Very briefly. Noise level are rarely (never) consistent and go up and down, often considerably in many envirnments. So an leq level is the 'average' nosie level measured over a period. A and C are 'weightings' - for example A weighted measurements 'mimic' the response of the human ear to noise. Having both A and C weighted measurements is handy when using the HML method to help predict the reduction in noise levels for various ear protection. Hoep that helps a little, also have a look on the HSE site for the NAW stuff
