Hi My company are making their own walkway out of metal tubing to protect pedestrians from falling pallets, does the walkway once it has been welded etc have to be inspected to make sure it can do the job? Thanks

jamesw Bit of an obscure question if I may say so. Nevertheless, I would have thought that any structure should be inspected and tested before use to ensure the integrity of the design and build. A competent person, such as an engineer, would be best suited to advise on both the safety and functionality of the structure before use.

I think this will become a "static system" and should be added to any asset register and inspected just the same as, say, static ladders and walkways. Les
