Hello all
I'm looking at gaining further qualifications through self funding. I have worked within the construction industry for 25 years, mainly in Site/Project Management so have always taken a lead role in promoting Health & Safety awareness & issues. I recently self funded a NEBOSH Construction Certificate, which I passed with a dinstinction grade. The problem is that I want to take a more active role as a safety advisor, however, due to my location training always involves travelling + overnight stays, a cost which soon adds up. Has any one any ideas for suitable distance learning courses that will give me industry recognised qualifications for a step in the right direction? I would prefer a general grounding in all aspects, not just pigeon holed in construction.
Help required please

Suggest you contact Linda Crossland-Clark, who is the owner of she-knows health & safety. She can advise of the best way forward.

Also recommend you get yourself familiar with www.linkedin.com where you will find a greater arena of safety and construction professionals which you can discuss opportunities etc.

Hi Julian

The NEBOSH Construction certificate is at a level 3, so really you do want to move up a level or so. This is usually the NVQ Level 5 Diploma or the NEBOSH Diploma.

To deepen your knowledge across the board I would suggest the NEBOSH but to push you into a combination of self development and accrediting of skills you have but aren't recognised do the NVQ. Neither of these will pigeon hole you as they are accepted in all industries.

However if you want a bit of a tangent, consider a trainers certificate or even NVQ Assessor as they could help out in all manner of things. Or look at some quality or auditors course. It depends on what you find interesting.

regards

Linda
