I seek to champion best practice by increasing the size of text on web pages to the minimum size of 14.

Both I.O.S.H. and the H.S.E. both preach best practice although they both use the traditional size which came from business letters, which came from typewriters, which in turn came from the format that newspapers have used for over 200 years, but were limited to the size of a broad sheet of paper.

The R.N.I.B. (Royal National Institute of the Blind) has recommended size 14, since the early 1980's in web page design, very few have taken any note and chosen to follow tradition rather than best practice.

Most computer users in homes and business use large screens, they use a mouse or touch pads to navigate around the web pages, there are applications to magnify the image, text readers for the blind or partially sighted, but for 'normal' people, even those who wear glasses for reading or those who just get tired eyes would appreciate a slightly increased font size.

My eyesight is fairly good although I wear glasses for distances over a yard/metre, but I find reading a size 14 text is easier than a size 10 or 12 font style of size. Is it unreasonable to expect best practice in the size of the printed word on a web page?

See what I mean when I say "you don't know what you don't know"

Thanks guru and Kim for kicking this off.

Or even ctrl and the + sign!

Or pinch to zoom on Android
or double tap

Or in IE - View - text size, change to large.

So that's what I did!!!!

I wondered how the text suddenly got bigger.

I somehow did that inadvertently once.

Good to know how to when I need it.

:( Not in XP - or our tech guys are too clever for me. A sideways screen would be an amusing trick.
