I am just canvassing some opinion regarding If people think there should be servicing of a manual door.

For instance I am well aware of the need for servicing of Shutters etc and the fact it is covered within the welfare regs but do people believe an ordinary manual opening door requires the same regime of servicing as in the doors you would ordinarily get at the front of a store "Not" an automatic door but the ones you would open yourself as a customer to open.

1. Is servicing required ?

2. If so under what regulations/guidences ?

3. Does anyone else have servicing completed on manual doors ?

Thanks in advance

Alan

Hi Alan,

All I can offer is, I work for one of the largest auto door manufactoring, installation and servicing providers in the country. We also manufacture and install steel doors.

We install heavy steel doors on projects such as 1 Hyde park which had over 100 assets yet we don't offer a service solution for manual doors as part of our service.

I asked the question, why not and I was told that anyone can service a manual door.

In that I would say a can of wd40 and a couple is decent screwdrivers should satisfy any servicing requirements.

If you realy want to be covered then create an asses register of the doors and ensure each assess revives a good once over every 12 months and a visual inspection every day.

I would have thought that would cover the duty if care

Thanks for the imput thus far it was helpful, I was eluding more to the ordinary glass door with metal surround you have to push and pull at a town centre store.
