H&S has been a target from day 1, under the site "general" heading at:
http://www.redtapechalle...scut/generalregulations/
(As previously reported in this Forum).
A double-whammy for health and safety then!
I'll stop now, before I go in to "rant" mode about this!

I did like this comment though (source ack. George Findlay)
"What is clear though is that we should all be VERY sceptical about this web site. Your (our) broad range of comments now provide a veritable smorgasboard of opinions, sound bites, stories from which this goverment can selectively support their agenda. There are no measurables on this site. No independent assessment or collation of conclusions – just an opportunity for selective reporting.
Let’s face it – do we know what the agenda is here. Removing Red Tape for business…..
As a business owner (installation/construction), I don’t believe for one second that anything debated here will result in one single benefit to my business operation or my employees.
I challenge this government to identify one tangible, measurable change that results from all of this. Just one."

It just seems to me that this tool is a propaganda machine for government to say, 'look what the public says', I imagine that the comments used by the Rt Honourable Mr Cameron will only be the ones that support his opinion..... But maybe I am just a little cynical!!

As has been said this has been covering H&S since day one.
Interestingly for the first week or so the main thrust was the to be expected slagging off of H&S –get rid of the Health and Safety at Work Act, ban risks assessments all etc.
Then we started getting more sensible comments as the site was spotted by H&S professionals and even sensible balanced members of the public (they do exist!).
The big question is what they do with all this information and how much money they have wasted collecting and collating this stuff.

It is about removing the barriers to losing employees without any of that irritating law stuff.
It is about charging employees for safety equipment....as if they did not already pay for it indirectly.
THE most costly item of legislation for business....as cited BY business....is the Working Time Directive. "Costing" some 17 billion pounds over 10 years. And THAT cannot be removed or altered substantially by ANY UK government.
The unions will be challenging any change in the courts, and probably in the EU as well.

Building upon John's post, there was some research a while ago which asked employers which type of regulatory laws are seen as the more prescriptive and burdensome, HR or H&S? HR came top for employers. So, does this mean we are going to see and end to the HRA, Equality Act, Race Discrimination Act and employment law in general?

BBC News item a few days ago certainly suggests this Government also intends to subject Employment Law to the same scrutiny. I can't remember who the talking head was. Scrapping 90 day notices, abolishing TUPE, review of Equalities Act were, as I recall, specifically mentioned.
My jaundiced view on all of this is that the means of making our economy competitive will be achieved by transforming us in to a Third World Labour Force. No surprise really given the political hue currently holding the reins. The electorate in this Country do seem to have very short memories.

No.
Many, if not all, of the above are enshrined in law, EU as well as UK. And the EU tells the UK what it IS going to do, not the other way around.

I thought Cameron was trying to get away from the EU as well. I'm sure I seen numerous news reports rubbishing certain parts of the Human rights act's (you know things Joe public will agree with). So that would round the whole thing off nicely for them, would it not.

News reports mean nothing. The press are not free, they are part of the business community.
Without removing the country from the EU there is no chance of revoking the legislation tied to EU directives.
There is no chance of any of the major parties leaving the EU.
You will note we have no aircraft for our coming new carriers....so we will be using member EU countries aircraft...
So. WTD will stay (going it alone will cost millions in fines)
As will most of the human rights laws...which have little to do with the EU anyway....
