Greetings!

Ours is a power plant and we are operating same kind of a couple more plant here. Now my management has proposed to have a corporate level safety committee. Would your please advise in best ways in creating an effective safety committees with possible duties, any written guidelines also are appreciated.

You don't sound very clear about what you (or the proposers of the idea) want the committee to achieve - you need to establish that before working out how to make it effective. There are many possible purposes a committee can have - consultation with the workforce, the appearance of consultation, raising the profile of health and safety among management, raising the profile of health and safety among the workforce, monitoring the safety performance of the company, deciding actions and monitoring their progress and probably many others - what is it you want to get from it?

Hii Kate,

The common aim is to review and monitor the procedures, spread the OHS awareness among the management and employees, share the best practices among each others, discuss the issues and way forward.

I would suggest to go for an gap analysis. Identify the areas of concern, formulate a team, cascade responsibility and monitor the effectiveness.
Management review is recommended with the following team.
GM, LOB MANAGERS, HSE, ADMIN, MR and Employee Reprentatives.
