Jesu have a look at the study support forum on this website and you will get some guidance
summary
NEBOSH cert general or construction is fist base but you are very unlikely to get a job with a 3 week course
NEBOSH Dip or NVQ are considered to be the main qualifications and then you need to get even more excited as then Professional Body Membership may be required eg IOSH -
There are international versions of the qualifications. If taking any qualifications before you commit suggest you check on these forums about the providers as sadly there a number who may not deliver quite as well as they say they will

I can speak to the situation here in Canada.
For OHS generalists (which is what the majority of employers hire here), a 2 year Diploma in OHS is the most common academic credential. The CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professional) designation is something many OHS practitioners here pursue as well (www.bcrsp.ca).
There are very, very few (if any) Bachelor's level OHS programs currently offered in Canadian universities; the few post-graduate programs that are available are for occupational hygiene, or occupational health.
I can say that the NEBOSH programs are not well known here at all....

For UK, IOSH recognises the qualifications in the link below for its various categories of membership:- http://www.iosh.co.uk/me...ing_a_qualification.aspxYou may be better off considering some of the MSc/Post Graduate University qualifications if your are contemplating emigrating to countries that have a points based system, as the NEBOSH qualifications are not "recognised" as degrees for this purpose.
