Seriously if you have just been appointed and you are looking for advice about risk assessment I would think you are not able to complay. I don't mean to say that you lack anything, but your egerness to do the job may exceed youe current knowledge. What level of complication will the job have? How do you get the advise you need? Are you being scape goated? Think carefully before you dive in. As the health and safety officer why not recpmmend that you need to get someone in who can deliver what you need? There is no shame in telling your employer that you as the health and safety manager thinks that expert help is needed, after all that is what your job is about.
