Hi Danny,
There are many possible routes to take.
If you work in the Construction industry you could look at doing NEBOSH Construction cert, that would tie in well with NEBOSH General. To progress, you could do the NEBOSH Diploma or you could take the NVQ route, also look at doing Auditor courses.
Hope this helps.

Danny,
The good thing about having the NEBOSH general certificate is that unit 1 is the same for the NEBOSH construction certificate, so you only have to complete units 2 and 3. If you plan to stay in the construction industry, then this would be a sensible next step IMO.

Danny,
It depends what you want to achieve and to some extent what you do in the construction industry.
As already said you can take the construction certificate,
or
you can take a higher level qualification either NVQ5 (numbering system has changed I believe so now 5 not 4) but you need to be able relate what you are doing at work to the modules of the NVQ
or
OS&H diploma (NEBOSH etc) but the diploma is much much more demanding on time and effort than the certificate
or
you could take an IEMA environmental course to broaden your knowledge.
If your ultimate goal is to become a Chartered Health & Safety Practitioner then at some point you will have to gain a higher level qualification than the certificate.
My own personal opinion is that the "H&S powers that be" (government, HSE, IOSH) are now putting more and more emphasis on qualifications and less on experience whereas employers want experience backed by qualifications
Whatever you decide I wish you good luck
Take Care
