Hello Does anyone have any pointers as to how to include the "other requirements" into the legal register (required for OHSAS 18001)? I have a legal register but an internal audit has pinpointed that there is no apparent reference to other requirements, not quite sure how to tie this in i.e. ACOP's, British standards etc?

Hi there, I write legal registers as part of my consultancy role, I include ACOPs and BS references following the applicable piece of legislation in the register; such as: Health & Safety (Safety signs & signals) Regulations SI 1996/341. would be followed on the next line by: ACOP L64 - Safety Signs and Signals and then the next line: British Standards BS 5378 - Safety Signs and Colours I reference the Regulations within the "summary & relevance" section with such wording as "This is specific guidance to be read in accordance with ........" hope that helps

You might want to consider including any specific requirements of Clients if that is relevant to your organisation. Regards Yul

Hi, The "Other Requirements" section of the legal register should include any Company specific policies/procedures etc, for example Control of Contractors, Permit to Work policy and as Cedrec has pointed out, any ACOP's and BS refs. Cheers

I agree with Paul, would suggest you do not get as deep as BS and ACOPS at the end of the day the legal register is just that, the "others" are I have always suspected just a way of ensuring you look beyond legislation. I include local /national company requirements, customer needs and indeed I have in the past included local action groups [save the badger] and school requests [leave the grass long so they can collect insects]. Do you have any OTHERS would be my starting question the answer may be NO at the end of the day.

Do not forget that client/customer requirements may also need to be included Bob
