A festival organiser for a forthcoming event has published a copy of (Shropshire) Fire Service Licensing guidance in which it says all tents shall be fire retardent and making this a requirement for attendance with proof (e.g. letter from manufacturer, label on tent or empty bottle of retardent & signed declaration of application). Not all tents have labels (especially the older tents of attendees). Whilst it is possible to purchase fire retardent sprays these all seem to be water based so for waterproofed nylon type tents and plastic sheeted party tents this retardant agent just runs off. (It seems pointless to buy a spray - it might as well be tipped down the drain) I cannot falsely sign a declaration.
The option of scrapping all tents and buying new is not an option for the youth group I advise. The only other alternative seems to be not to attend. Can anyone advise an alternative please?

Hi Mike,

You could try tapping up the CO of the nearest military base?
