Hi, does anyone have a risk assessment for a talent show that they would be happy to share with me?
Oviously I will have to amend it to my needs but a starter would be very helpful. I have to get this done in a very short time frame, hence the ask for help!
Thanks

Tongue firmly in cheek. Given what I've seen lately on TV, the Reg4 hierachy of control must be strictly applied, with a view to eliminate or avoid!
On a serious note, much of this is going to depend on the suitability of the venue. The actual activitity related hazards should be few and far between if you're talking song-and-dance routines. A different matter if you're expecting fire-eaters and acrobats. Maybe a bot of crowd control if you're offering money or TV opportunities.

Sadly nothing that grand!
Just a local communities got talent, in the town centre, the biggest risk I was anticipating was trip hazards and "lack of interest!"

Acoustic shock must be a concern, surely?

Hi Leah
First off...Any electrical amplification or lighting being used?
Hazard: Electricity
Risk: Electric shock/electrocution. Death/burns etc.
Control: RCD's in place and tested. All electrical equipment subjected to PAT. Radio mics used.
Hazard: Cables on floors
Risks: Trips
Control: use correct cable containment
Also ensure that bariers are in place to segregate public from performers. Security of personal belongings of performers First aid in place and evacuation plan sorted in case of fire/drill etc I hope this helps a little

Hello
Is this an outdoor event? Controlling access and the weather can cause a few challenges as they say.
I was involved in an event in the middle of winter that was going to be filmed, and we had some interesting discussions with the artistic director who loved the idea of the event being outdoors with the snow and ice turning the town centre into a winter wonderland. THe problem was his grand idea would have meant school age children standing around in sub zero temperatures on ice covered roads after dark for about 4 hours.....
Still, if your event is in the near future, it should be above freezing - just!
