I retire tomorrow and would like to say goodbye and thank-you to all the forum members and to the backroom staff and moderators who make this site possible. Much of the help I received was from reading posts not directly addressed to me so thanks again to those unsung heroes who so freely help others. I have tried to only post where I felt I had something worthwhile to add, I hope I too, was of some assistance to someone, somewhere. I wish you all well, a happy and safe future.

Why goodbye? Visit us from time to time and your experience could be very useful to others. It's not like an old'un going back in to the office and feeling unwanted.

Enjoy your retirement Bob, but (as others have said) stay in touch and give others the wisdom of your days at the coalface. You never know, next week you may choose to reverse the decision! Best wishes to you! M

Bob, don't even think about going back you won't have enough time to do it. There is the garden to kep tidy, the family will put you under huge pressure to do things for them and the days won't be long enough, believe me I am there mate. Just keep looking on the website and pass on your years of experience to those who still have to get up early in the morning and travel into work for a full day and then drudge home about five and then go to bed ready to do the same thing all over again. Retirement is highly recommended and everyone should look forward to it. Relax, put your feet up and enjoy.

Bob - To echo the response by stuff4blokes, your employment status is surely irrelevant in relation to this forum. Hopefully, you and other retired people will keep looking at the forum and continue to contribute, as and when you think fit, and thus share the benefit of your knowledge and experience. One aspect of OS&H, no doubt like many other professional fields, is that new information and changes keep it interesting. Even for experienced OS&H people, there are always some aspects which are new or not fully realised. One classic example of this on the forum has been the recent topic "Please help settle an argument" about the combustability of cardboard which one respondent aptly described as an "entertaining, educational and passionate discussion". So, all the best with your retirement - but continue, if you can, with this forum and useful contributions.
