Our local Fire Brigade has contacted me to arrange a 72D visit, but the lady who made the appointment was unable to tell me what the visit consisted of. Has anyone any experience of a 72D visit, if so what can I expect from it? Thanks Carol

It is a familiarisation visit by the fire service so that they have a knowledge of local area and premises. However, if they see something that they think is a breach of current regulation they will notify you of this. Hope this helps

When I was in the job we did 1(1)(d) visits to premises for familiarisation and for the crew to see what goes on, where the hydrants are and what are the fire risks etc. I think this is the same but a different number 'cos the regulations have changed. This gives you an opportunity to ask relevant questions about fire safety and for some advice. I would be interested in some feedback from the visit i.e. are they now including fire risk assessment areas and would they require improvements as they are now the enforcers of fire regs?

As above I believe this is an old 11d / 1(1)d and refers to the Section 7 subsection 2 (d) of the fire and rescue service act 2004. Basically - make arrangements for obtaining information needed for extinguishing fires. Normaly only done for more high risk areas, public entertainment venues. What you can expect? They will probably ask if there is any additional hazards on your site, compressed gas, explosive risks, or any areas which you need to be saved - else they will just let it burn, they may also ask you to put together a grabpack Des
