This question has been bugging me for ages, I had no idea that not knowing something could be so stressful! As it's Friday I thought I'd muster up the courage to ask;

Well centi is Latin for hundred, so maybe the metric system was based on the centipedes....although according to QI there has never been a centipede found with a hundred legs...which might explain the mess of our economy system.....
