I know it's not Friday, but I need some inspiration.
Do any of you have any ideas / suggestions for a H&S / occupational safety tagline I could use to encourage the reporting of near misses or potential accidents?
Thanks,
Alex

There are some tried and trusted slogans as well as those a bit off the wall. Not convinced that they really do any good as they become wallpaper after a period. I have worked for large construction companies who have their own plethora of slogans and soundbites. In fact, they all seem to sound very similar and end in...tolerance. I like to think we have moved on a bit from treating people like school children. The bottom line is that most people are reluctant to report issues and to put anything in writing and the lower the status the less inclined they are.
I had my own sitting above my desk which I plagiarised with a picture of a cute kitten next to a microwave with the slogan - If you don't report it - the kitten gets it! Just to show we h&s bods do have a sense of humour.

Thanks for that Ray.
I'm desperately trying to avoid the wallpaper effect, but I do want something to encourage people to buy in to what we're asking them to do.
Not enough room on the page for a microwave and kitten, but I like it!

How about a competition for your employees to come up with a slogan that means something to them, best one wins a small prize and has their slogan used, you should automatically get at least one person bought into what you are doing!! If you have lots of good suggestions you can refresh them every few months.

As Ray says they do just become wallpaper especially when they have been in place for some time. They need refreshing that's for sure. I don't have any suggestions to hand but going on what mootoppers said maybe you could use recent or current advertising slogans and strap lines and play on the words, puns, etc they contain. Watch the adverts on telly over the next few days and see what you can come up with. I should add that some companies might not be too receptive to their work being plagiarised so tread carefully. If in doubt, clock out [gets coat and leaves hurriedly].

I try and put a few pictures on my humble blog. Nor sure if they can be 'borrowed' but if they can and you can find a use for them help yourself. I would be happy if you would just pop a credit on the pic though. Let me know. email address there somewhere.

Sadly the best ones are already taken "Just Do It!" and "Because you're worth it."
...But you get the idea.

I agree with the comments about the short shelf life of such things. However, best success we ever had was with
"What If?"
"you didn't bother to report it"
AND.............
add your own graphics etc

Accidents hurt - safety doesn't.
Chance takers are accident makers.
The door to safety swings on the hinges of common sense.
Working without safety is a dead-end job.
Know safety, no injury. No safety, know injury.
Safety never takes a holiday.
Danger never takes a vacation.
When you gamble with safety, you bet your life.
If safety is a joke, then death is the punchline.
Is better to lose one minute in life... than to lose life in a minute.
While on a ladder, never step back to admire your work.
Hearing protection is a sound investment.
Your safety gears are between your ears.
Personal protective equipment is self-defense.
Tomorrow - your reward for working safely today.
Don't learn safety by accident.
Be alert! Accidents hurt.
Better dead sure than sure dead.
Wishing won't keep you safe - safety will.
Safety isn't just a slogan, it's a way of life.
