Hi, I tried to look on HSE's web site but no results found. Does anyone know of a guidance document that exists regarding managing offenders (on tag) who are employees? Thanks in anticipation.

Hello, Tagged offenders don't tend to bring specific H&S problems, so perhaps organisation such as CIPD, NOMS (national offender management Service - includes Probation) and Unlock (Ex offenders association) may prove more useful in providing Employer information. Clive

You may also be interested to hear of a project in Norwich in which the Chapelfield shopping centre has an active programme of working with offenders from Norwich prison to help find them work and break the cycle of reoffending; someone there may be able to give you some practical advice http://www.bitc.org.uk/r...e_studies/afe2823_1.html

Not something for the HSE as woudl be covered by other general documents. Dependant upon reasons for the tag (if known) may then influence certain aspects of your assessments or safety processes. Is there something specific you are looking at for this area, i.e. inclusion in an assessment, assessing suitability for a task?

Apart from above, the only other obvious assessment would be if these people come under category as young persons. Then you will need to take that into account for RA purposes.

I suppose my query was specific to managing people in different workplace environments eg just because they are on tag would not make that person in-capable or not able to work in certain work environments. I think the tag issue is very common (or more common than we think) in the construction sector.
