Does anyone have or know where I can get a copy of Managing H&S in Swimming Pools, 2nd Edition, ISBN 0717613887.

I know this has now been superseded by the 3rd edition but I need to reference the 2nd.

Many thanks for your help in advance,
Lou

Loads at Abebooks - fairly cheap as well. I assume you've already checked Amazon.

Thanks, found the guidance straight away. I had checked Amazon but it kept bringing up edition 3 - must be how I'm searching.

Ideally though, I don't want to be buying it until I know it contains what I want around the design features of steps accessing the pool tank.

When I searched for this ISBN number it came up as an HSE publication HSG 179. Could I suggest a search on HSE website where you will find the FREE download for this?

Sorry, I take your point that you wanted the 2nd edition.

Right, off to do my lines.

Hi Phil, I have tried the HSE but they only link to current editions and I'm after the earlier version. I have emailed HSE books and am just waiting for a reply, but I don't think it will be free like the current guidance :(

It looks like you are based in the North West;

Can I suggest you ring HSE's HQ at Redgrave Court in Bootle and ask to speak to the "Knowledge Centre". They probably have a copy of past editions, and if you speak nicely to them they may let you go in and read it before you decide whether to buy it.

For once let down by IHS OHSIS.

I've got access to what appears to be first edition (1988) and the current (1999) but apparently not the second.

Subject to copyright considerations but if you ask me that relevant question I could look at the 1988 edition to see if it answers Q.

Hi Peter,

I am trying to find out what edition 2 said about the requirements for access steps into the pool tank, does it differ from the current version which states

"The leading edge of each step should be colour-contrasted for increased visibility from both in and out of the water; should have treads which are slip-resistant and have no sharp edges"

Your help is greatly appreciated,
Thanks,
Lou

Have you tried local library? I found an old edition of a british standard through them, had to wait a few days as they requested it from another one but finally got it.

The other option of course is to try local councils (unless you from the council) then could always try others as sometimes their H&S departments keep archives.

Hi TSC, I have asked the central library and they don't have it so they have sent a memo to other libraries in the area asking if they have it - just waiting a response.
