Hi all

I have recently taken up a brand new position as health and safety officer for a training provider. I have initially been tasked with designing a training course via moodle for local companies in the retail and warehousing sectors. Although I believe I have the majority of course content relating to the fundamentals of this subject I am struggling with exactly what should be included in a manual handling course to make it effective as possible.

Does anyone have any tips that they could pass on or refer me to any information sources that I may have not visited to date.

In a former life I changed the way MH training was delivered (used to be a 30 minute video interupted by the ocasional sound of snoring).
It was changed to a mixture of theory and practical sessions. Started off with a 30 minute theory followed by a visit to the factory floor for a practical session and finished off with a further 15 minute 'classroom' session. Our MH accident rates dropped significantly after this.
