Hi

Anyone know the requirement for type paint for coverinng under roof steelwork?

This is a building used for indoor bowling (carpet not ten pin) with no suspended ceiling.

They are refurbishing following fire damage.

Thanks

Chris,
It may be worthwhile discussing with your local Building Control Department. I suspect that they may insist on intumescent paint for fire resistance. Here is a link to a supplier (I have no direct experience of this company or its products).

Hope this is of some use.

Chris,

Additional to above you could try the technical departments of the major paint manufacturers,
e.g. Hempels, Jotun, International.
Your insurers may want a specific system so you could also ask them.

All the paint manufacturers have an advice department.

Would it not depend on whether you are intending to paint on top of the existing paint, abrade or remove the altogether the existing paint? Need also to check whether the existing paint layers contain a lead based paint.
