Although this has only just been discussed, I have just looked at the HSE report for 2009/2010 and according to the propsed guidelines, the HSE would have pulled in £23.8m in enforcement notices alone in this year.

Although my main point is does anyone think the Local Authorities (Councils) will follow the HSE lead and also charge for certain services?

I'm sure all those consultant accountants will be number crunching to see what income they could gleam off this should it ever be approved by the goverment!

The matter of charges by LA's (EHO's etc) is already being discused within their peer groups. Fear is that charges are a contradiction to supporting business with 'reasoned and helpful intervention'. More mixed messages of take the burden of regulation off business but screw them when you can!
