I have just started working with a Construction Company who have long toothed joiners with more years of experiance then i can count to.
Anyway they were all using the time proved classic designed "saw horse cum Hop Up", there seemed to be a production line on the site knocking these bad lads out. So now they are banned as not being an appropriate W@H piece of equipment with no EN number or classification.
So the cries from the site - "Elf n Safty gone mad young'un"
Its been an interesting debate with the site managers but eventually they have all towed the line.
Anyone else encountered our 4 legged friend, or the milk stoarge devices ;)

Without going into all the pros & cons a VIP point to consider is just who 'banned' the kit as the manager and not the H&S person should be managing e.g. Telling staff what to use / not use and staff should be communicated with & educated properly so as the selling of the idea to move with the times is bought into otherwise the wrong ideas [H&S is bad] will continue

Bob, thanks for the sober reply of what I thought was a small attempt at livening dull friday morning.....
But your points are noted - and the course of action I took was as you stated, not just - "You can't use them 'cos I said"... people need to know why and as you said need to be aducated.
BUT i still giggle at the ammount of milk crates that are hanging about!

If you want a good giggle just look at some of the stables around and their practices especially concerning the use of school children

Using school children as hop-ups are they, Bob?
Actually it's sad to see sawing horses consigned to the past... They were one of the first things an apprenticed carpenter/joiner made when the started their employment... and what's wrong with a couple of saw horses and a bit of 8"x2" to stand on I say... :-)
