Hi
Does anyone have a decent FRA they could email that i could use for guidance and a prompt please.
The one i've got at present seems a little too generic.

There's a decent checklist on UCL site accessible via a Google search. Some might say that it too is "generic", however it is the frequency of application of that checklist and the measures taken as a result which will ultimately ensure a consideration and implementation of fire safety issues in what can be a very challenging and dynamic situation.
With some application of grey matter, it can be determined what key phases or project milestones will require a next review.

HSG168 is the document you need to look at. Fire safety in construction Guidance for clients, designers and those managing and carrying out construction work involving significant fire risks This is a free-to-download, web-friendly version of HSG168 (Second edition, published 2010). This version has been adapted for online use from HSE’s current printed version. You can buy the book at www.hsebooks.co.uk and most good bookshops. ISBN 978 0 7176 6345 3 Price £10.95 What I did was to download the free document, print it out and read it through. Then I made up a template using the guide. I find if you do it yourself you get a better understanding of what is required.

PAS 79:2007 is available for purchase from BSI for £99. There is a template included which can be adapted to suit your own way of tackling the subject. Some people find the tick box approach not to their liking but the method of reaching the answers requires a thorough understanding and disciplined approach.

HSG168 is avialable as free pdf I think. Not that I found it particularly helpful.

Funny how we each have our own preferences.
I thought HSG168 was excellent but PAS79 not so.
I know PAS 79 has the template already there but I prefer to make my own.
Don't forget that temporary accommodation units (portacabins) require a separate fire risk assessment and if there are potentially explosive gases on site a further assessment is required by DSEAR.

Hi Tony,
I use HSG 168 – Fire Safety in Construction
But I have also used the following documents produced by the FPA (Fire Protection Association)
- Fire Prevention on Construction Site (The Joint Code of Practice on the Protection from Fire of Construction Sites and Buildings Undergoing Renovation), which if I recall was approx £20
and Construction Site Fire Prevention Checklist, which was around £15.
Both proved to be useful reference tools when producing Construction Site Fire Risk Assessments
