I would be interested in hearing form other consultants whether they have received any business related enquiries as a result of having their details on the OSHCR Register. Having been on the register since its inception I have received no enquiries of such a nature, the only contact I have had via this route has been from scam emailers.

Yes I have - but not that many] - [plus some 'cold calling' that I assume comes from details on the register] This I can put down to one major fact - as the listing is alphabetical, by first name, I appear early on in the searches made that include my 'areas', so probably get contacted on the "first listed, first called" basis Answer - change your name to something like Aaron

Surprisingly I had one from a small Local Authority, and have had several scam emails. At least the former covered the registration fee, but I doubt any long term work will follow on. Apparently everything's randomised to avoid the "Aaaaron of AAA safety consultants" issues. I doubt that the whole system's generated more than a few hundred small contracts. The results of the recent IOSH survey would be interesting, if publicised.

I would suggest that the list is generally being used by clients to confirm the status of a consultant.

I have had a few calls, but only from either advertisers wanting me to buy their advertisements or web site people wanting to sell me a website. I don't worry as I have enough work at present and clients seem to be impressed by the logo on my business card.

I've just completed a short training event for a client who identified me via OSHCR. Attendee feedback was very positive and overall it seems to have been a very beneficial project for both parties (I had to adapt an earlier workshop I had developed and delivered to suitable for the specific client). I registered with OSHCR as soon as it was set up, but without any real expectation of resulting business, so a new client with some new challenges was a great outcome.

I'm also on registers for psychologists (Health Professions Council) and ergonomists (Central Register of European Ergonomists). While I get few enquiries, they're of good quality by people who evaluate their needs carefully and are willing to negotiate a fair deal and to make good use of services provided. By encouraging 'smart buying', a profession can raise the bar rather than compete to the bottom.

I have had only 1 enquiry and that was the day before I was going to raise the question through a safety related LinkedIn group to the value of the Register
