Just having Two Electric boilers installed at a small depot with the old oil fed boiler being removed, a days work. By following my company’s procedures the following paper work is completed / required: Contractor Approval Document: Copies of Contractor Insurance, Insurance confirmation from Insures, Safe Contractor/CHAS, RAMS, Training Certs. General Contractor Rules Sign Off Site Contractor Rules Sign Off Site Induction Approval to Work Certificate General PTW Hot Work PTW and Checklist Working at Height PTW and Checklist Risk Assessment on Contractor Activities Contractor Audit Is this about right or is this OTT (works about 18 different documents!)? Just need a sanity check!

Mr Flib Is the contractor(s) providing a MS & their own risk assessment As the client I expect they are demanding all these checklists etc so would demand the reams of paperwork regardless of the work being carried out?

Mr Flib First, I think for a small contractor the requirements are a bit OTT and given the nature of the work it is not unreasonable to bypass some of them. Furthermore, surely some of the requirements should have been processed prior to the contractors arriving on site to ensure their competence? I am not being overly critical because I realise working for a large organisation there are many procedures and systems in place, what's more they are often not really appropriate for small outfits.

Have U matched this red tape with the T&C's and similar conneccted to this work as I bet that the other red tape exceeds the area U have quoted

"Contractor Approval Document: Copies of Contractor Insurance, Insurance confirmation from Insurers, etc." can be managed remotely via annual review of approved contractor lists, and all of these things should be confirmed well before appointment. I would not consider that "Risk Assessment on Contractor Activities" or "Contractor Audit" (whatever those things might entail) need be applied to every single job. You don't list: handover and commissioning processes, waste transfer notes, update to asbestos register, amendment to water quality management risk assessment, update to electrical schematics and maintenance schedules!
