Does anyone have a solution to retrofitting one of these machines with guarding? This is proving almost impossible but the standard requires it. Appreciate any assistance. Mark

Mark,
Not my own expertise but you may want to try looking at companies that can provide lathe guarding products that may assist in this type of problem?

Hi Mark,
I had a similar problem with a large Union Horizontal Miller. I consulted PD5304, (which it was at the time), and decided on having an interlocked perimeter fence all around the machine. The machine ws pendant operated once it was set up with operator outside of the interlocked fence but still able to see quite clearly the cutting operation. idid consider a number of options as per the above guidance but the interlocked perimeter fence proved the best, (not the cheapest), option. Hope this helps.
