The recent tragedy at The Cobb will almost certainly be the subject of an inquest, and one which is likely to receive considerable media coverage. Therefore, surely it's best for us to wait for reports of the evidence which will emerge during the inquest rather than continue with mostly speculation about the circumstances and which factors were involved.
On a general note, hopefully some forum users will have information in response to Safety Smurf's query about the availability or otherwise of wheelchairs intended for uneven surfaces.
This aspect reminds me of seeing snippets several years ago of a TV series about a group of young people with different disabilities doing a trek somewhere in South America. I vaguely recollect that one or two of the participants used manual wheelchairs. On awkward or steepish sections of the route, I think other participants helped out, possibly using ropes at times to help pull the wheelchairs. If my memory is correct about the wheelchairs, perhaps they were designed and built specifically for the sort of terrain encountered on the trip. On the other hand, they might have been chosen from a small selection available from a specialist maker/supplier.
