For the last three years I have been a senior workplace health and safety representative. In that time I have gained a Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health, an IEMA Accredited Certificate in Environmental Management, been trained and certified as an ISO14001 Internal Auditor and received formal training and certification in Incident Management and Investigation.

My responsibilities are risk assessments, site inspections, accident investigations and environmental audits. So what am I doing wrong? I have applied for 20+ vacancies within health and safety without a single reply. I am at a loss as what I should be doing. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Brett
I'm sure you are not doing anything wrong, as you are undoubtedly aware, times are very difficult at the moment. Just got to plugging away at it I'm afraid.
The only advice I can give is ensure that your CV is in good order, and tweak it as necessary for each application.

As smitch states, there are very few jobs and lots of candidates. Employers can be very choosy at the moment, so only those with very good qualifications eg CMIOSH are likely to land a job, unless the role is specifically looking for a lesser person.

Best wishes - Ray

Brett.

Same problem here mate.

Employers are demanding alot of skills and experience for a little monetary reward.

Or its the ideal job, but in the wrong location.

I've been looking since April & trying to get assistance from Iosh since then, to no avail
