What are the logisitcs of these tests? how long does a test take? does everybody that wears the same type of respirator need an individual test? Can companies providing the PPE do their own in house tests and pass the results onto their customers?
I have been informed from our PC that persons sporting a beard are not allowed to wear FFP3 masks due to a face seal not being able to be achieved?

The test should take no more than 10 - 15 mins.
Each person who is required to wear RPE needs a face fit test
For our members of staff who need RPE and have facial hair we get them to wear hoods and belt battery packs.
Ask me again next week after I've been through all of ours!

Once trained, you can easily carry out your own qualititative face fit tests with a kit you can easily buy over the counter from most safety equipment suppliers. Quantititative tests require a specific machine and measurement programmes and are therefore more difficult to carry out on your own premises but there may be a supplier of RPE nearby who will acomodate this, for a fee of course, sparing you the large capital outlay for the equipment.
Facial hair will always cause problems with trying to get a good seal on your RPE and generally we don't bother FFT people unless they're clean shaven, thus prohibiting them from certain workscopes on the installation
Hope this helps
