I am in a dilemma, in my existing role the career progression opportunities are virtually zero, I have over four years experience in H & S in a heavy fabrication background as a Safety Coach, I also worked as a Mechanical Fitter gaining extensive knowledge of the repair and maintenance of heavy plant machinery, later working on numerous sites in heavy engineering such as steel making, petro – chemical, oil and gas, contracting as a Mechanical Fitter, then retraining as a fabricator, I have successfully passed the Diploma and Certificate in Education, and hopefully soon the Environmental Diploma, I need a new challenge but which direction, ive always fancied working offshore or abroad, is there any opportunities out there, any thoughts welcome. Thank You

I can quite understand how scary it must be to know you are stuck in a position with no future progression, especially if you are the sort of person motivated by development.
I will suggest you employ the services of a good career coaching company, which is what I am doing now. They offer different services including creating a winning CV, helping you understand your strengths and supporting you to make your decision for your next career move.
Good luck!

I am lead to believe that Auzie and Canada are booming compaired to most places so they may be your best bets and the north sea is played out except for those with extensive experience and even then only on certain jobs

Bob, don't know about Oz but from my experience things are just beginning to bite in Canada in terms of tough times. I was out there working in June/July and reasonable in Calgary, Vancouver and also Skagway area of Alaska, but very patchy elsewhere in terms of opportunities. If you specialise then the chances do improve.
