Hi All
I have been trying to find any recommendations or codes of practices concerning the speed of fork lift trucks inside a large factory environment. I understand this to be 5mph but I cannot confirm this written anywhere.
Does anybody know this or can let me know where to find it or is this simply down to assessment?
Kind Regards
Dave

I've never seen it written down.
5mph does seem to be an accepted standard. A few years back we had a new fleet of counter balance trucks delivered and these had been pre-set by the manufacturer to just over 5mph. This was for use in a busy manufacturing site.

A word of caution Loco 24 - do you FLT's have speedometers on board or are they pre-governed to 5 MPH (as Martin indicates) - if not how can you implement a control you cant measure.
You would be expecting to driver to guess 5 MPH otherwise.

I have not seen anything that says an actual speed, FLT's should be operated at a speed consitant with the conditions & environment eg are these operated in straight lines or lots of turns & environment challanges, Thats where your R/A will determine. all our trucks are pre governed a 7 KMPH.
