Who said that the job centers are full of jobs that are not real? Whilst job hunting yesterday I came across an organization looking for a Clairvoyant, which read
“We are looking for experienced Intuitive coaches, psychics, clairvoyants and lightworkers”
Made me wonder, do they have to produce a risk assessment for this or would they be wasting their time, any thoughts (it is Friday). I have often wished I was Clairvoyant in the past, I have known other people who thought I should have been as well.
Before I scoff at this too much, I guess I should point out that it paid £20 per hour, (do the math’s and be sad). For any Clairvoyants out there the Direct.gov reference is cwm/3250 or do you already know that.

I believe that there have already been a number of applicants for this post; some even before the ad came out....:-)

I guess they must be finding it difficult to recruit to this post - true clairvoyants would already know there was a vacancy - hence no need for an advert!

It must be a role for a h&s manager, we are supposed to be able to predict the future aren't we? As I often comment, I have two balls but neither of them are made of crystal - well it is Friday.

With the added bonus of knowing when and where the redundancy axe will fall!

I read this post before opening it - does that qualify me for the job?
Silly question as I already knew the answer.

What's a 'lightworker'? £20 per hour to operate a lightswitch or for someone who does not need to work very hard is pretty good going, I'm obviously in the wrong job. In any case do the lights need to be 'on' to see in to the future or is it the light at the end of the tunnel?......I need to go and lie down....!

If they have an accident they could not claim it wasn't foreseeable

Yes indeed, not only reasonably foreseeable but more impressively 'unreasonably foreseeable'. I'm not totally convinced by 'clairvoyant in the past' though. Isn't that just a good memory?
(Although my dad always swore my mum had 20/20 hindsight. (Mater: "I knew you'd drop that vase!" Pater: "So why didnt you stop me picking it up?".))

I'm not going to apply. I've looked into the future and seen why the previous incumbant left the post. ;-)

I had not considered light workers operating switches; I just thought they couldn't carry out any form of manual handling. I also wondered if Intuitive Coaches was a fancy way of saying teacher of common sense, something the present government is keen on. Of course I doubt most of those in government consider themselves common, so obviously lack common sense. Therefore I predict a large market for anyone offering this service. I also predict this thread will be locked over the weekend by the moderators, if not before (go on, prove me wrong). Perhaps IOSH could consider offering this training; I suspect teaching people common sense to be the next big thing in H&S. You know, how to close the boot of one’s own car without causing injury to yourself, etc.
This prediction business is not as hard as I thought, better go now and concentrate on tomorrow’s lottery numbers.

So if you knew what was going to happen before it happened and you changed things so that what you saw happen didn't happen, would you not have seen yourself changing what would of happened, but didn't happen and something else happened instead or is it changing what happened because you saw what happened that causes what happened to happen?

I went to a clairvoyant last week who told me that I would come into money, have a successful career and have a fantastic love life. He was very excited about it so I punched him....I always like to strike a happy medium....
